Meetings & Events

Our meetings are held at the Museum on the third Wednesday of May, June, September, October, November and December.  Meeting time is 7 pm. Whenever possible, we have a guest speaker who gives a presentation on heritage or historical matters.


  • September 10, 2013: Guest speaker: Rob Leverty, Executive Director of the Ontario Historical Society, “History of the Ontario Historical Society”   
  • October 15, 2013: Guest speaker: Bob McCarthy, local author, “Case 666: Travesty of Justice – Execution of Elizabeth Workman at the Sarnia Courthouse in 1873”   
  • November 19, 2013: Guest speaker: Major Chadwick, 1st Hussars, Canadian Army, “Mobilization of Canadian Troops in WWI, WWII, Korean War & Afghanistan”           
  • December 17, 2013: Guest Speaker: Alan Campbell, Historian, Genealogist
  • March 18, 2014 : Guest speakers: Mary and Paul Janes, book publication process & digital photo restoration for “The Township of Warwick: A Story Through Time.
  • May 20, 2014: Meeting at Wyoming Library. Guest speaker:  Tom Walter, “Rail History in Lambton
  • October 21, 2014:  Guest Speaker:  Charlie Fairbank “Lambton’s Early Oil Industry & Wyoming’s Role as a Terminal”
  • November 18, 2014: Guest speaker:  Laura Greaves “Researching family trees”
  • December 16, 2014:  Guest speaker:  Glen Stott “War of 1812”
  • January 20, 2015:  Meeting location – Lambton County Archives.  Historian Dana Thorne will show members the wealth of information available at the Archives.
  • April 21, 2015 – Annual General Meeting & Elections.  Guest Speaker: Bob Nix, “Thomas Edison’s connection to Camlachie and early phonographs..
  • May 19, 2015:  Guest Speaker:  Bob McCarthy “How Well Do You Know Lambton’s Heritage?” 
  • June 16, 2015:  Guest Speaker:  Jane Teskey, a member of Lambton’s Ontario Genealogy Society, provides tools to help you search your family history.
  • September 15, 2015:  Guest Speaker:  Bill Denning, a local funeral home director, speaks about the history of the business of funerals.
  • October 20, 2015:   Dana Thorne, Archivist, shows a series of vintage videos showing local residents and the landscape of Wyoming in the 1940s.
  • November 17, 2015:  Guest speaker: Al Anderson discussing research undertaken to complete a new book featuring the lives of WWI soldiers from St. Clair Township.
  • September 21, 2016: Guest Speaker:  Mary Ellen King “David Maxwell, inventor of Canada’s Maxmobile in 1900”
  • October 19, 2016: Guest speakers:  Jim & Ellen Hodgins “Early hand tools & farm artifacts”
  • December 10 & 11, 2016:  PWHS Mystery History Christmas Tour
  • December 14, 2016:  Open house for members and supporters
  • April 19 2017:  AGM & Election of 2017 Board of Directors.  Guest speaker:  Dr. Laura Greaves “ramifications of WWI and how they lead to WWII”
  • April, 2017:  Open every Saturday from 9:30 am to 2 pm for special presentation on the “100th Anniversary of Vimy Ridge”
  • June – August, 2017: Special Vimy lectures the first Saturday of the month.
  • June 21, 2017: Guest speakers Randy Evans & Tom St. Amand “Stories behind some of Sarnia’s street names”.
  • September 20, 2017:  Guest speaker Heather Sharpe author of “A Dollar A Day: Diary of a Live-in Domestic in Small Town Ontario”
  • October 18, 2017:  Don Poland & Gordon MacKenzie shared historical stories.
  • November 18-19, 2017:  PWHS Mystery History Christmas Tour
  • April 18, 2018: AGM & Election.  Guest speaker:  Phil Egan discussing his recent book “Walking Through Fire – The History of Sarnia Fire Services”
  • May 16, 2018:  Guest speaker Dan Oatman speaking on” British Home Children of the Early 1900’s”.
  • June 18, 2018:  Unveiling of the areas first historic plaque at King’s Square in Erroll Village.
  • June 20, 2018:  Guest speaker Gordon MacKenzie will tell us about the battle field tour he went on in May in France.
